All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or during vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Holmfirth, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age requirements may vary based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are also necessary. Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Holmfirth office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, allowing for standard wear and tear. Ensure that the fuel level matches what it was at collection; refueling fees will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Late returns could incur extra charges, so please notify us in advance if you expect to return the vehicle late. Insurance and Liability Terms

Options for additional insurance may be available to help lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless further coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses for rental vehicles:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky maneuvers is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes. Passenger and weight limits must be adhered to, and driving outside designated areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Holmfirth is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
